Friday, December 5, 2025 - The U.S. State Department has announced a $5 million donation to UNICEF to support humanitarian efforts in the North-West, aimed at tackling acute malnutrition among children in the region.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the US Mission to
Nigeria, the funding will enable UNICEF to deliver lifesaving nutrition support
to at least 70,000 children with acute malnutrition in Northwest Nigeria.
The statement said the assistance will go toward essential
supplies, noting that these funds will be used by UNICEF to provide
ready-to-use food, medicine, and other humanitarian supplies.
It read, “The State Department provided $5m to UNICEF to
deliver lifesaving nutrition support to at least 70,000 children with acute
malnutrition in Northwest Nigeria.
“These funds will be used by UNICEF to provide ready-to-use
food, medicine, and other humanitarian supplies.
