Monday, December 1, 2025 - A suspected cult clash in the Ilese area of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, has left a police officer and one yet-to-be-identified man d3ad.
It was gathered that the clash erupted on Saturday night,
November 29, 2025 when suspected cultists stormed the area and began shooting
sporadically.
A community source told punch that the attackers
k!lled a police officer identified as Olamilekan Faruk Kamaldeen and another
man whose identity had yet to be ascertained.
He added that the violence was believed to be a
confrontation between members of the Aiye confraternity and the Eiye
confraternity.
“Tragedy struck last night around 10 p.m. at Ilese via
Ijebu-Ode, as two individuals were k!lled in a suspected cult clash between Aye
and Eiye confraternities,” the source said.
“One of the victims is a police officer serving at Obalende
Division, Ijebu-Ode. He is known as Olamilekan, while the second person was
unknown. They were shooting sporadically when they stormed the area and left
residents in panic."
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre
Ogunlowo, confirmed the incident but said he was yet to receive a full briefing
on the circumstances surrounding the attack.
“I can confirm that a police officer was a victim in the
incident. I am still waiting for the details of what really happened,” he
said.
