Wednesday, December 3, 2025 - The Kano State government has dismissed as false a report claiming the state currently has the highest level of insecurity in Nigeria, insisting the publication is misleading and does not reflect the realities on ground.
Governor Abba Yusuf, through the Commissioner for
Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, condemned the report
while speaking to journalists after defending his ministry’s proposed 2026
budget before the Kano State House of Assembly.
Waiya said the claim was “false, misleading, and completely
untrue,” stressing that Kano has continued to make notable progress in
safeguarding lives and maintaining public order. He emphasized that the state
remains one of the most peaceful in the country due to ongoing collaboration
between government, security agencies, traditional rulers, and community
leaders.
The commissioner also used the opportunity to caution
journalists and media organizations, urging them to uphold fairness,
objectivity, and accuracy in their reporting. He warned that allowing the media
space to be used for political agendas or sensational narratives can erode
public trust and inflame tensions.
Waiya reaffirmed the government’s resolve to continue
strengthening security partnerships and preventive measures to ensure Kano’s
stability.
