Thursday, December 4, 2025 - Bandits have invaded four settlements and rustled 365 cows in Iddo village, near Janjala in Kagarko LGA of Kaduna State.
A resident of the area, Tukur Musa, confirmed the incident
to our reporter by telephone on Wednesday. He said the attack occurred around
8.33pm on Tuesday, when the bandits, armed with AK-47 rifles, stormed the
herders’ camps and whisked away the animals.
“The bandits came in large numbers, wielding sophisticated
weapons. They invaded the four Fulani settlements one after the other and
rustled 365 cows amid sporadic shooting. Some herders were forced to flee,” he
said.
A community leader, who preferred not to be named, also
confirmed the attack. He said he received a distress call around the same time
and immediately alerted troops stationed in Kagarko town. However, the bandits
had already escaped with the cows through Hayin-Dam to Kurutu village.
He added that most of the rustled cattle are usually taken
by bandits into the Kurutu forest. A security source, who did not want to be
named, said troops had already responded and were on the trail of the attackers
in a bid to recover the cows.
Efforts to reach the spokesman of the Kaduna State Police
Command, ASP Hassan Mansur, were unsuccessful, as calls to his phone were not
returned at the time of filing this report.
