Sunday, December 28, 2025 -This was confirmed by Musa Ali Maigari, the Public Relations Officer of Yobe State Road Traffic Management Agency (YOROTA).
In a statement issued on Saturday, Dec. 27, Maigari stated
that the accident occurred around 12:00 pm on Friday, Dec. 26.
“Upon receiving the distress report, the General Manager and
Corps Commandant of YOROTA, Babagana Alhaji Modu Bature Goniri, MBA, MINSTA,
immediately deployed the Agency’s Rescue Squad to the scene for emergency
intervention.
“Preliminary findings indicate that the accident was caused
by a tyre burst.
“The YOROTA Rescue Squad, in collaboration with the Federal
Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and YEMABUS, promptly evacuated the injured victims to
the Yobe State Teaching Hospital, Damaturu, for urgent medical attention,” the
statement added.
According to the statement, the agency expressed deep
condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the swift recovery of the
injured.
It also urged motorists to conduct routine vehicle checks,
especially on tyres, and to strictly comply with traffic safety rules to avoid
similar tragedies.
