Unknown assailants shoot dead NURTW chairman in Osun




Thursday, November 27, 2025 - A leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Osun State, Adeboye Ademoroti, has been shot d3ad by some yet-to-be-identified assailants in the Ilesa area of the state.

Security sources who preferred anonymity told Punch that Ademoroti and one other person were shot at the Olomilagbala Area of Ilesa late on Tuesday, November 24, 2025. 

The spokesperson of the Osun Police Command, Abiodun Ojelabi, who confirmed the incident to the publication said the doctor who received two gunshot victims in his hospital in Ilesa reported the incident to the police late on Tuesday.

Ojelabi also said the doctor further reported that one of the victims, later identified as Adeboye Ademoroti, popularly known as Germani, was already dead before he was brought to the facility.

“We received the report late yesterday (Tuesday). The doctor of the hospital where they were rushed to reported the matter to the police. The doctor said two victims with gunshot injuries were brought to his hospital,” the PPRO said. 

“The doctor also told us that one of them was brought in d3ad. Our operatives immediately moved to the scene. The one brought in dead to the hospital was later identified as Germani, the real name being Adeboye Ademoroti." 

The police spokesperson said the deceased, until his d3ath, was the “NURTW chairman for Unit 4, Ilesa. 

"Our operatives recovered some cartridges from the scene. Investigation is ongoing to ascertain what really transpired. No arrest yet, but the tactical team has been deployed to the area to support the operatives on the ground. The real name of the deceased is Adeboye Ademoroti. The circumstances surrounding the incident are not clear yet.”

Meanwhile, the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has warned against rising political violence in some parts of the state, directing the Commissioner of Police to clamp down on political killings across Ijeshaland.

This was contained in a release signed by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Wednesday.

Pleading with the political class to submit to the people’s will and avoid violence, the governor decried recent k!llings at Ilesa, urging politicians to eschew thuggery and bloodletting.
