Troops kill father of notorious bandit leader in Katsina

Wednesday, November 26, 2025 - Tension is building in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State following the killing of Alhaji Ibrahim Nagode, father of a wanted bandit leader, during an operation by Civilian Joint Task Force personnel.

Nagode, 60, lived in Na’alma village and was the father of Haruna Ibrahim, widely known as Fada.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the shooting happened as Fada was returning to the village after a recently negotiated peace accord between bandits and communities in the area.

Security officials noted that the locality had been on edge after intelligence indicated that armed bandits were regrouping nearby.

Joint troops had been deployed to scale up patrols to prevent possible attacks, but the operation ended with Nagode being fatally shot.

The Department of State Services has since taken all CJTF personnel involved into custody.

Authorities are watching the situation closely, with fears that the killing could trigger retaliation and destabilize the fragile truce.

Sources stressed the need to sustain dialogue and honor the existing peace agreements to avoid further violence. Security operatives have urged residents to remain alert and report any suspicious activity in their communities.
