Tuesday, November 18, 2025 - A North Carolina jury has ordered TikTok influencer Brenay Kennard to pay a massive $1.75 million after she was found liable for wrecking a Durham couple’s marriage.
According to the lawsuit, Kennard — who has nearly 3 million
followers on TikTok — was accused of seducing and having an affair with
her manager, Tim Montague, a relationship that reportedly played out both
offline and on social media, CNN reported.
Akira Montague, Tim’s ex-wife, dragged Kennard to civil
court, accusing her of destroying her home, her peace, and her family
structure.
Her lawyer, Robonetta Jones, said “She has received justice from
losing her husband and the father of her children.”
The jury found Kennard guilty of criminal conversation and alienation
of affection — an old North Carolina law that still allows a spouse to sue
the person they believe interfered in their marriage. Only a handful of U.S.
states still recognize this.
Akira said the alleged affair led to emotional trauma,
affected her health, and robbed her children of a stable two-parent home.
Tim eventually left his wife for Kennard.
But Kennard fired back after the verdict, claiming
Akira knew her marriage was already over:
“She gave her consent. She said it was okay because she knew her marriage
was over.”
