Thursday, November 20, 2025 - The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has confirmed that the Nigeria Police Force has recovered human remains believed to be those of its missing staff member, SRC O.O. Lasisi, from a river in Iwoye Ijesa, Osun State.
According to the Corps, the Osun State Police Command
formally notified FRSC of the discovery on Tuesday, after the remains were
found on Monday.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the FRSC said the Osun
Sector Commander immediately visited the state Commissioner of Police for a
comprehensive update on the ongoing investigation.
Police investigators disclosed that a combination of
intelligence gathering, surveillance operations and phone tracking led to the
arrest of an herbalist in Iloko Ijesa.
During interrogation, the suspect alleged that Lasisi was
lured, murdered and dismembered by a man identified as Victor and his
accomplices, who are still at large.
Investigators also revealed that Victor, said to have been
in a relationship with the deceased, allegedly abandoned his vehicle on the
Gbongan-Ibadan Expressway in an effort to mislead security agencies and create
the impression that Lasisi had been kidnapped.
The herbalist also claimed that Victor removed the missing
child from his residence. The child has yet to be located.
The recovered remains have been taken to the UNIOSUN
Teaching Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination and DNA testing.
The FRSC added that the deceased’s husband, who resides in
the United States, has been contacted to assist with the forensic process.
FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, described the
development as a tragic and deeply distressing update. He commended the police
for their prompt action, extended condolences to the bereaved family, and
prayed for the safe recovery of the missing child.
Both the Police and the FRSC appealed to the public to
provide any useful information to the Osun State Anti-Kidnapping Unit or the
FRSC Sector Command to aid the ongoing investigation.
