Friday, November 7, 2025 - The Kwara State Police Command has arrested four people in connection with the alleged killing of the Chief Imam of Sokunkpan Village in Tsaragi, Edu Local Government Area, Alhaji Abdullahi Audu.
Reports say the attack happened after a man named Ibrahim
Gana, who had been sick and receiving treatment in the area, died.
His two brothers, identified as Mohammed Shaba and Mahmud
Gana, accused the Chief Imam of being responsible for their brother’s death.
According to police spokesperson Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, the
suspects allegedly gathered a group of people and attacked the Imam with
dangerous weapons, leading to his death.
She said the police quickly launched an investigation and
arrested four suspects, while efforts are ongoing to catch others involved.
The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo,
warned residents against taking the law into their own hands. He reminded the
public that mob attacks and jungle justice are crimes that will be punished by
law.
Ojo assured the people of Kwara State that the police are
committed to maintaining peace and ensuring justice for the murdered Imam.
