Friday, November 21, 2025 - Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has urged the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to recover Brigadier General Musa Uba, Commander of the 25 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, following reports that he was abducted during an encounter with Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Ndume also called on
authorities to expedite the rescue of the 25 schoolgirls abducted on Sunday
from Government Girls Comprehensive School, Maga, in Danko-Wasagu Local
Government Area of Kebbi State.
General Uba was reportedly captured during a military
operation around Wajiroko in Azir Multe, Damboa Local Government Area of Borno
State. While the Nigerian Army denied the abduction, insisting the Brigade
Commander had returned safely to base, unverified videos released on social
media by suspected ISWAP fighters claim otherwise.
Ndume, a former Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, expressed concern over the worsening security situation across parts of the North-West and North-East, where banditry, kidnappings, and terrorist activities continue to escalate.
He said: “I am compelled to issue this statement concerning the abduction and whereabouts of Brigadier General Musa Uba and the 25 females of the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, by terrorists. Let the government and our security agencies act quickly to bring back the Brigade Commander dead or alive. I also call on authorities to intensify efforts to safely rescue all the abducted schoolgirls.
“Bringing them back would help minimize the trauma faced by
their families, friends, and Nigerians in general.”
The senator commended the sacrifices of military personnel and other security agencies and prayed for divine guidance to support ongoing efforts by both federal and state governments to curb terrorism, kidnappings, and banditry across the country.
