Thursday, November 13, 2025 - Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has berated the Military officer, Lt. Yerima, who had a faceoff with his boss on Tuesday, November 11, describing the officer as ‘’unruly and arrogant'.
In a chat with Channels TV this morning November 12,
Olayinka claimed that a former Chief of Naval Staff was scammed in a land deal
in Abuja and, instead of seeking help, resorted to using military force.
According to Olayinka, the disputed land was not allocated to the former Naval
Chief but to a company that attempted to convert it for commercial purposes
contrary to its original use.
“That
particular land was allocated to a company in 2007, Santos Estate Limited, for
park and recreation. The company did not do anything on the land because that
place is a road corridor, you don’t build there.
Then, in
2022, the company wrote to the FCT Development Authority (FCTDA), seeking
approval to convert the land’s purpose to commercial use. Probably in
anticipation of the Minister’s approval, the company began partitioning the
land originally meant for park and recreation and sold it to people, including
the former Chief of Naval Staff.
I want to
say here that the former Chief of Naval Staff was scammed, and he has realized
that he was scammed. Instead of coming forward to seek help, he resorted to
using military might.” he said
Berating the officer who challenged his boss, Olayinka said
‘’I saw the
Army officer yesterday telling that he was acting on order and I have also read
online that a military man should obey the last order and I have asked myself
‘which order?’ Like the Minister also asked yesterday, you obey order yes, but
that order has to be lawful. The order has to be reasonable.
For
instance, if I am a military officer and my superior gives me an order to go
and shoot somebody or my boss gives me an order to go and r@pe my daughter,
will I obey the order because it is coming from my superior? or because
somebody is dragging a girl with my superior and the superior sees the said man
walking on the street and he says ‘shoot this person’, because it is an order I
should obey it?'.
The Minister
called the Chief of Defence Staff before he left his office. When he got to
that place, the Minister also called the Chief of Defence Staff. From the
video, you could see he gave his phone to that unruly officer because he was
unruly.''
