Monday, November 3, 2025 - A yet-to-be-identified minor lost her life after she fell from a motorcycle and into the tyre of a truck along the Ilaro-Ibese Expressway in Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The accident, which involved a truck with number plate MDB
249 XA and an unregistered motorcycle, occurred at about 5 p.m. on Sunday,
November 2, 2025.
The spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and
Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, who confirmed the incident to punch said
three other individuals sustained varying degrees of injuries.
According to him, the motorcycle was overloaded with four
passengers and ran into a bad section of the road, causing the female minor to
fall into the tyre of the truck.
“A fatal RTA occurred along the Ilaro-Ibese Road, inbound
Ilaro, at about 1640hrs on Sunday. It involved a cement truck with the number
plate MDB 249 XA and an unregistered motorcycle,” he said.
“According to eyewitnesses, due to the bad road, the
motorbike rider lost control and fell close to the truck’s tyre. The impact of
the collision reportedly led to the death of the female child, while three
adults were injured.
“The three adults were taken to the Ilaro General Hospital
for treatment, while the presumed d3ad female child was deposited at the Ilaro
General Hospital morgue."
The TRACE spokesperson added that some motorcyclists in the
area went on the rampage after the incident, but the swift intervention of
security agencies brought the situation under control.
“Motorcycle riders began causing an uproar, but with the
combined efforts of TRACE, the police, Amotekun, and the Nigerian Army, traffic
normalcy was restored. The truck in question was taken to the Ilaro Police
Station,” Akinbiyi concluded.
