Friday, November 14, 2025 - The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) has sealed Ejanla Restaurant at No. 40, Fola Osibo Street, Lekki, for allegedly discharging raw sewage into public drains through a pumping machine, causing offensive odour and posing a public health risk to the community.
The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources,
Tokunbo Wahab, said such acts of environmental nuisance and pollution endanger
human life and would attract sanctions or prosecution.
In a related operation, the Lagos State Environmental
Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) began clearing beggars and individuals
constituting nuisance along the road median in the Ketu-Alapere area. The
exercise is part of the state’s efforts to maintain order, ensure free traffic
flow and promote a cleaner, safer environment.
Officials of LAGESC, also known as KAI, were seen evacuating
individuals loitering or obstructing pedestrian and vehicular movement along
the corridor.
The ministry said similar operations would be carried out
across the state to sustain environmental sanity, discourage street begging and
ensure clean public spaces.
Speaking to The Guardian, the Commissioner said the
clampdown on beggars in Ikorodu, Lekki, Ikotun and other parts of Lagos aligns
with the state’s determination to uphold orderliness.
“Disability is not an excuse for lawlessness. Lagos will not
condone any form of indiscipline irrespective of who is involved.
“Every part of Lagos must reflect the standard of a Cleaner
Lagos and a Greater Lagos. All the individuals arrested will be profiled and
handed over to the appropriate authorities for necessary actions,” he said
