Thursday, November 6, 2025 - Beloved Italian Greyhound and internet fashion darling, Tika the Iggy, has passed away at the age of 14.
The news was announced on Monday by her owners in a joint
statement shared on Tika’s official Instagram page. Tika became widely known
online for her stylish outfits and runway-style poses, earning her more
than 1.6 million followers on Instagram and over 3 million
followers on TikTok.
Over the years, Tika was affectionately referred to as “a
new fashion It girl” by Vogue, and even nicknamed “The
Anna Wintour of Dogs” by creator The Dogist — a nod to her
signature luxury looks and expressive attitude in photos.
Her owner, Thomas Shapiro, shared a heartfelt message
while announcing her passing, writing:
“Tika, I
really thought you were going to live forever. I thought we had more time… Our
hearts are sh@ttered.”
He explained that Tika had undergone surgery after
veterinarians discovered two tum0rs in her liver. While the procedure
initially went well and she returned home without complications, her health
declined shortly after.
“Something
had changed. You looked so tired, peaceful… Your body was slowly giving up,” he
wrote.
Tika passed away at home, surrounded by both of her owners.
Many fans, fellow pet influencers and pages from the dog
community have been pouring out tributes and condolences online. Popular
account We Rate Dogs commented, “Our team is devastated…
thank you for sharing her with the world.”
Doug the Pug’s account also wrote, “We are
beyond sorry. We’re crying with you.”
Tika will be remembered not just as a stylish dog in luxury
coats and dramatic poses, but as a pet that brought joy, color, and comfort to
millions of people on the internet.
