Monday, November 3, 2025 - Afrobeats singer, Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, has expressed pride in being a Nigerian, stressing that her favourite thing about the country is the spirit of the citizens, which she claims can’t be replicated by foreigners.
The Joromi crooner, however, said she wished Nigeria was a
better country, adding that if the country was working citizens won’t be
migrating en-masse.
Speaking in a recent episode of the 90s Baby Show, Simi
said, “My favourite thing about Nigeria is just the spirit of Nigerians. You
can’t replicate it.
“Nobody else can be a Nigerian other than a Nigerian. Even
when they are faking African accents in Hollywood movies, they never actually
fake a Nigerian accent.
“They always fake East Africa and South African accents.
Being a Nigerian doesn’t just come as naturally, it just feels like home.
“That is why I wish the country was better. Because I feel
like no one would want to leave.”
