Monday, November 10, 2025 - Pastor Nathaniel Bassey, the popular Nigerian gospel singer and minister, has revealed how divine guidance led him to his wife, describing their marriage as a testament to hearing and following God’s voice.
Speaking during a recent message, Pastor Bassey recounted
his wife had been on a month-long fast in her church theme “Two Is Better Than
One.”
During that period, she felt a strong conviction that he was
her husband but prayed for a clear confirmation.
“She told God, ‘This is my life. Give me something very
substantive,’” he recalled.
According to him, on the final day of the fast, she attended
a service and prayed that God would speak his name to her twice.
During the scripture reading from Isaiah 64, the officiating
pastor unexpectedly said: “And Jesus saw Nathaniel standing under the
fig tree.”
Startled by his mistake, the Pastor apologised and repeated
the passage—only to make the same slip again.
“That was the confirmation she needed,” Pastor Bassey
explained. “That’s how we married—by the voice of God.”
He urged believers to trust in divine guidance, quoting
Psalm 119:105: “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my
path.”
The testimony has since gone viral, inspiring many
Christians to seek God’s leading in their life and marital decisions.
