Saturday, November 8, 2025 - Police operatives in Ondo State have rescued a woman who was abducted along Weluwelu Street, Ilekun, on Oda Road in Akure, the state capital, and arrested four suspected kidnappers in connection with the incident.
The suspects were apprehended following the prompt response
of police detectives to a distress call from a vigilant resident who witnessed
the abduction.
According to reports, the victim was seized by four men
driving an unregistered Toyota Camry at about 6:30 p.m. on the day of the
incident.
Acting swiftly on the intelligence provided, operatives from
the Ondo State Police Command immediately mobilised and mounted a coordinated
interception along the suspects’ route.
Their quick action led to the successful arrest of all four
assailants and the immediate rescue of the abducted woman, who was reportedly
being taken to an undisclosed location before the intervention.
A source within the command confirmed that the suspects were
overpowered after their vehicle was blocked by the police.
“The prompt coordination between the concerned citizen and
the rapid response of the operatives was crucial in preventing what could have
turned into another tragic abduction case,” the source said.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations
Officer, PPRO, SP Ayanlade Olayinka, stated that the unregistered Toyota Camry
used in the operation had been recovered as evidence.
He added that the four suspects were in custody while
investigations were ongoing to uncover further details and possible
accomplices.
SP Olayinka commended the swift and professional response of
the police team, while also appreciating the vigilant member of the public
whose timely report helped thwart the abduction.
