Former councilor killed as gunmen attack Benue lawmaker's convoy

Sunday, November 2, 2025 - Gunmen launched an ambush on the convoy of Prince Shimapever Jiji, the member representing Logo State Constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly, k!lling a former councillor, Hon. Atindiga Tsebee.

The attack occurred on Saturday, November 2, 2025 in Anyiin, Logo Local Government Area, as the lawmaker was returning from a condolence visit to Tombu Council Ward, where he had gone to sympathize with families of victims of a recent assault that claimed three lives.

Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants, in large numbers, opened fire on the convoy, killing Tsebee on the spot and leaving several others injured.

“The gunmen began shooting sporadically when they sighted the convoy at Anyiin, killing the former councillor and injuring many others,” a source said.

Chairman of Logo LGA, Clement Kav, who confirmed the incident, described it as barbaric and called on security agencies to hunt down the perpetrators.

“Our son came home to console families of victims of Thursday’s attack. I was meant to join him, but the governor summoned me for a meeting. Not long after, I got news of the ambush,” Kav explained.
