Monday, November 10, 2025 - The Senator representing Bauchi South, Shehu Buba Umar, has urged closer cooperation between traditional rulers and political leaders to strengthen security and accelerate development across the constituency.
Buba made the call during a visit to the new emirates
recently created by the Bauchi State Government.
He said the visit was to reaffirm his loyalty and support
for the new emirs, while fostering collaboration to tackle emerging challenges
in the region.
Speaking at the palace of the Lamido of Toro, the senator
commended the cordial relationship between his office and the traditional
institutions, noting that their partnership has played a role in mitigating
incidents such as minor kidnappings and other security concerns.
“Now that the responsibilities have increased, there is a
greater need for us to unite and strengthen our cooperation to ensure lasting
security and meaningful development,” he said.
He congratulated the new emirs and prayed for Allah’s
guidance as they lead their people in promoting peace and progress in Bauchi
South and the state at large.
The emirs visited include Alhaji Umar Adamu, Emir of Toro /
Lamido of Toro; Alhaji Ali Yakubu Lame, Emir of Lame; Alhaji Nura Adamu Jumba,
Emir of Lere; Sulaiman and Bala Sulaiman, Emir of Jama’a.
In their remarks, the traditional rulers appreciated the
senator’s visit, describing it as a show of respect and partnership.
They pledged to work with all stakeholders to maintain
peace, strengthen security, and promote socio-economic development in their
domains.
