Friday, November 21, 2025 - Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, under the Progressive Governors’ Forum, PGF, on Thursday assured the Kebbi State Government and the families of the abducted students of Government Girls’ Secondary School, Maga, of their support for ongoing rescue efforts.
The forum’s chairman and Governor of Imo State, Hope
Uzodimma, gave the assurance in Birnin Kebbi during a solidarity visit to the
state following Monday’s attack in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.
Uzodimma described the attack as tragic and unacceptable,
noting that the visit was to identify with the affected families and the
government.
“It is painful, and we deemed it necessary to identify with
you at this difficult time,” he said.
He added that the governors were united behind President
Bola Tinubu in efforts to strengthen national security and address the rising
wave of attacks across the country.
“We are your brothers in unity, standing firmly behind
President Bola Tinubu to ensure that national security is strengthened and that
this ugly trend of insecurity is curbed. As governors in the PGF, we are united
and committed to doing whatever it takes to secure Nigeria,” Uzodimma stated.
Responding, Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris thanked the
delegation for the visit, noting that President Tinubu had assured the state
and parents of the abducted students that the Federal Government was taking all
necessary steps to rescue them safely.
“We have already directed clerics to pray for the safe
return of the students and for peace in the state,” Idris said.
The delegation included Governors Umar Namadi (Jigawa),
Ahmed Usman-Ododo (Kogi), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), and
Nasarawa Deputy Governor Emmanuel Akabe.
Other dignitaries in the delegation were the Minister of
Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu; Minister of State for
Humanitarian Affairs, Tanko Sununu; Senator Bala Ibn-Na’Allah; Hon. Bello
Ka’oje; and Hon. Kabiru Tukura, among others.
