Wednesday, November 12, 2025 - The Yobe State Police Command has arrested two suspects for s3xually assaulting two minors in Jakusko and Fika Local Government Areas of the state.
The spokesperson of the command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, who
disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 said investigation
revealed that one of the suspects, Rabilu Sani is HIV positive.
The PPRO said Sani lured a 4-year-old girl into a room and
s3xually assaulted her.
Abdulkarim stated that the command is deeply concerned over
the recent increase in cases of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), particularly r@pe
and child abuse across the state.
He added that 25 cases of r@pe have been recorded so far,
mostly involving minors below the age of nine.
In a similar incident, a 23-year-old grinding machine
operator, Yusuf Garba, was arrested for luring a 5-year-old girl into his shop
and s3xually assaulting her.
Similarly, two men were arrested for gang-r@ping a
16-year-old girl in Babban Gida.
“The Yobe
State Police Command expresses deep concern over the recent increase in cases
of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), particularly r@pe and child abuse, reported
across several Divisional Police Headquarters in the State,” the statement
read.
"From
September 2025 to date, the Command recorded 25 cases of rape, mostly involving
minors below the age of nine.
"A
total of 28 suspects have been arrested, with 10 cases currently undergoing
prosecution in court, while investigations continue on others at the State
Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
"On
November 9, 2025, at about 0800hrs, detectives apprehended one Rabilu Sani (20)
of Jadam Village, Jakusko, for luring a 4-year-old girl into a room and
sexually assaulting her.
Medical
examination confirmed severe injuries; investigation also revealed the suspect
is HIV positive.
"The case has been transferred to the SCID for
discreet and thorough investigation and will be charged to court upon
conclusion.
"On November 9, 2025, at about 1100hrs, one Yusuf
Garba (23), a grinding machine operator of Dumbulwa Village, lured a 5-year-old
girl into his shop and assaulted her.
“The victim was immediately taken to the hospital, while
the suspect remains in SCID custody for prosecution.”
"On November 6, 2025, at about 1700hrs, a distress
call reported that a 16-year-old girl was attacked on her way back from a
Maulud celebration in Babban Gida.
"Operatives tracked and arrested Audu Ado (22) and
Babangida Alh. Dawaye, both of Galadimawa Village. The suspects confessed to
threatening the victim with harmful objects.
"The victim is receiving medical care, and the
suspects are under investigation at the SCID for prosecution.
"The Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, psc,
fdc, strongly condemns these heinous acts and has directed all operatives to
handle GBV and rape cases with utmost professionalism and sensitivity, Ensure
diligent investigation and timely prosecution.
"He warns that no offender will be spared, and
anyone involved in such crimes will face the full weight of the law.
"The Command calls on parents, guardians, religious
and community leaders, as well as civil society organizations, to remain
vigilant and work with the police to protect minors from predators lurking
within communities.
The statement further shared security tips for parents
and guardians, urging them to know where your children are at all times and who
they are with.
“Educate children on “Safe Touch – Unsafe Touch” in
simple language,” the statement read.
"Avoid leaving young children unattended in shops,
isolated places, or with unfamiliar persons.
"Report suspicious behavior immediately — silence
enables offenders.
“Teach children to scream or run to a safe adult if
threatened.”
