Two suspected armed robbers arrested in Lagos

Saturday, October 4, 2025 - Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have apprehended two suspected armed robbers, raided their criminal hideout in Mushin, and recovered a cache of weapons, ammunition, and other incriminating items.

The suspects were arrested on Friday, October 3, 2025, around 10:00 a.m. after detectives attached to the Lagos State Task Force, while on routine patrol along Empire Junction by Jibowu inward Ikorodu Road, spotted four young men suspected to be members of a robbery gang.

Upon sighting the operatives, three of the suspects fled the scene, but one of them, identified as Toheeb Adeboye, was caught and arrested.

A search of his bag led to the discovery of a locally made single-barrel cut-to-size gun, an English Barreter pistol loaded with two 9mm live rounds, and another locally fabricated pistol with ten live cartridges.

During interrogation, Adeboye reportedly confessed that the gang had just carried out a robbery operation in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, and were heading to New Supreme Hotel, Akala, Mushin, their usual base after operations.

Acting swiftly on this intelligence, police operatives stormed the hotel, where they recovered several incriminating items, including a laptop, charms, substances suspected to be Indian hemp and other hard drugs.

Another member of the gang, Ajayi Adeniyi, was also arrested during the raid with a locally made pistol in his possession.

The police have since sealed off the hotel permanently to prevent it from being used for criminal activities.

Both suspects and the recovered exhibits have been transferred to the Command Headquarters for further investigation, while efforts are ongoing to track down the other fleeing gang members.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, praised the officers for their swift response and professionalism.

He urged hotel owners across the state to maintain proper records of guests and monitor their activities, warning that negligence could allow criminals to use such facilities as operational bases.

He assured Lagos residents of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, while encouraging the public to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and to promptly report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
