TRUMP warns Hamas will face ‘complete obliteration’ if it doesn't give up power and control of Gaza

Monday, October 6, 2025 - Donald Trump has warned that Hamas will face “complete obliteration” if they refuse to cede power and control of Gaza.

The president’s comments come amid ongoing efforts to reach a peaceful resolution to the nearly two years of violence in Gaza. Trump put forward a 20-point plan for peace, which would see the immediate release of the hostages, but would also see Israeli troops remain on the ground in Gaza.

CNN’s Jake Tapper reportedly asked the president what would happen if Hamas insisted on staying in power, to which the president replied, “Complete Obliteration!”

Tapper also asked the president about Hamas’ response to his ceasefire proposal, citing Sen. Lindsey Graham’s interpretation that Hamas had effectively rejected the plan by insisting on “no disarmament, keeping Gaza under Palestinian control and tying hostage release to negotiations.

When asked if Graham was correct, Trump responded, “We will find out. Only time will tell!!!”

The president said that he expects clarity on whether Hamas is genuinely committed to peace “soon.” He answered that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is fully on board with ending the bombing campaign in Gaza and supporting the president’s broader vision.

Trump also added that he is hopeful his ceasefire proposal will become a reality and emphasized that he’s working hard to achieve it

Yesterday the president triumphantly announced that Israel had agreed to the first withdrawal step outlined in his plan. He added that once Hamas agreed, a ceasefire would be “immediately effective” and a hostage and prisoner exchange would begin.

Trump wrote on Truth Social, “After negotiations, Israel has agreed to the initial withdrawal line, which we have shown to, and shared with, Hamas. When Hamas confirms, the Ceasefire will be IMMEDIATELY effective, the Hostages and Prisoner Exchange will begin, and we will create the conditions for the next phase of withdrawal, which will bring us close to the end of this 3,000 YEAR CATASTROPHE. Thank you for your attention to this matter and, STAY TUNED!”

On Friday, Trump announced that Hamas was “ready for a lasting PEACE,” and ordered that Israel “must immediately stop the bombing of Gaza.”

Just hours later, Israeli airstrikes killed at least 20 people. Gaza’s Ministry of Health said that at least 66 people were killed and 250 were injured, within 24 hours, on Saturday.
