Monday, October 27, 2025 - The Bauchi State Police Command has rescued two siblings who were abducted by a family member in Tilden Fulani, Toro Local Government Area of the state.
The spokesperson of the command, CSP Ahmad Muhammad Wakil,
who disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, October 25, said the suspect,
Abdulkarim Tasiu, children, Halima Hamisu, 12, and Mohammed Aliyu Hamisu,6, and
demanded N50m ransom from their father.
Wakil said police detectives led by CSP Kisaba Rimamnyang,
immediately launched an investigation after receiving the report from the
victims' father.
During the investigation, an eyewitness saw a man using a
tricycle to pick up the children.
The kidnapper contacted the family using a foreign number
and demanded a ransom of N50m but later agreed to collect N1.2m after
negotiation.
However, further police investigations traced him to Anguwan
Rukuba in Jos, Plateau State, where the two children were safely rescued and
reunited with their parents.
According to the PPRO, the suspect confessed to the crime,
citing long-standing grudges with his uncle as the motive behind the act.
“In a commendable display of commitment and efficiency, the
Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper and successfully
rescued two minors who were earlier abducted in Tilden Fulani, Toro Local
Government Area of Bauchi State,” the statement read.
"On Thursday, 23rd October 2025, at about 1200hrs, one
Aliyu Hamisu of Tilden Fulani reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters
that his children, Halima Hamisu (female, 12 years) and Mohammed Aliyu Hamisu
(male, 6 years), all of the same address, were kidnapped by an unknown person
while waiting for their school bus along the main road in Tilden town.
"Upon receipt of the report, detectives led by the
Divisional Police Officer, CSP Kisaba Rimamnyang, immediately swung into
action, visited the scene, and established a criminal investigation protocol on
the spot.
"A preliminary investigation revealed that an
eyewitness saw a man on a tricycle pick up the children. Later in the day, the
suspected kidnapper contacted the family of the victims and demanded the sum of
fifty million naira (N50,000,000) as ransom, using a foreign number to avoid
being tracked.
"However, after negotiation, he agreed to collect one
million, two hundred thousand naira (N1,200,000) to be delivered around the
Farmers Motors Junction, Bauchi.
"Acting on credible intelligence, detectives from the
division strategically cordoned off the area, which led to the arrest of the
suspect at the point of collecting the ransom.
"Further investigation led the operatives to Anguwan
Rukuba, Jos, Plateau State, where the two abducted children were rescued safely
and reunited with their parents.
“Investigation later unmasked the prime suspect as
Abdulkarim Tasiu, a family member of the complainant, who freely confessed to
the crime, citing long-standing grudges with his uncle as the motive behind the
act.”
