Monday, October 6, 2025 - Mexican authorities have arrested former soccer player Omar Bravo on suspicion of child sexual abuse.
The former star forward, age 45, was arrested during an
operation in the municipality of Zapopan, according to Mexican authorities.
The Jalisco state prosecutor’s office released a statement
indicating that investigations suggest Bravo allegedly abused a teenage girl on
multiple occasions in recent months and may have committed similar acts
previously. He is expected to appear in court soon.
Omar Bravo is widely known as the all-time leading goal
scorer for Chivas de Guadalajara and also represented Mexico's national team in
the 2004 Athens Olympics and the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
Following the news, fans left comments on Bravo's latest
Instagram post from September 8, which made no mention of the accusations, with
some expressing sadness and hope that the allegations are untrue.
The prosecutor’s office confirmed it will continue its
investigation.
