Saturday, October 11, 2025 - The Kogi State High Court sitting in Anyigba has convicted and sentenced one Husseini Mustapha to life imprisonment for the r@pe of a minor.
Justice Hauwa Yusuf delivered the judgement, finding the
convict guilty of the crime committed on November 14, 2024, in Ajakeya, Abocho,
within the Dekina Local Government Area.
The court heard that the victim, a minor whose identity is
protected, was intercepted by the convict while she and her sister were on
their way to a prayer ground. Mustapha forcefully took the child to a nearby
bush where he r@ped her.
While convicting Mustapha on the charge of r@pe under
Section 31(2) of the Kogi State Child Right Law, the court discharged and
acquitted him of the conspiracy charge due to insufficient evidence regarding
an alleged accomplice who remains at large.
The Prosecuting Counsel and Principal Legal Officer with the
Kogi State Ministry of Justice, Kunle Tolufase, expressed satisfaction with the
judgement, stating that it would serve as a deterrent to those committing r@pe
and other related s3xual offences.
