Friday, October 3, 2025 - Zamfara State police command has confirmed that gunmen kidnapped two councillors and an imam in Gusau on Wednesday night.
Police spokesperson, Yazid Abubakar, revealed on Thursday
that the councillors, who represent Gidan Gona and Tsibiri wards in Maradun
Local Government, were taken alongside an Imam in Tsauni community shortly
after evening prayers.
He said security operatives have since been deployed to the
area and efforts are ongoing to rescue the victims.
Abubakar also appealed to residents to share any information
that could help in the safe rescue of the victims
Meanwhile, The chairman of Maradun Local Government, Sanusi
Gamagiwa, explained that six people were originally abducted, but three were
able to escape. “So far, they have not contacted anyone to state their
demands,” he said.
