Governor FUBARA appoints new Secretary to the State Government (SSG)

Tuesday, October 14, 2025 - Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has approved the appointment of Benibo Anabraba as Secretary to the State Government (SSG). A statement by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Communications, Kuru Sirawoo, said the new SSG was scheduled to be sworn, yesterday, Monday, October 13, 2025, by 4:00 p.m. at the State Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt.

Anabraba was the immediate past Commissioner for Housing and was among the commissioners affected by the Supreme Court judgment. It would be recalled that two weeks ago, the governor formally sacked the cabinet members affected by the Supreme Court judgment, leaving only eight commissioners behind.

Meanwhile, Fubara, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, reiterated his administration’s resolve to continue prioritizing infrastructure development as a foundation for economic growth and social progress.

He said he would deliver massive infrastructure for public use despite the obvious slowdown due to the state of emergency. He, however, gave the assurance of his administration’s commitment to complete the 62.650 km Port Harcourt Ring Road project, despite the setbacks that have slowed its progress.

Fubara noted that discussions with the contractor had been ongoing to ensure that work resumes at full capacity after a period of financial challenges that affected the project’s continuity.

He described the Port Harcourt Ring Road project, which traverses six local councils, as one of the most significant infrastructures in the state’s history, noting that its completion would not only ease traffic congestion in the capital city but also stimulate economic activities across multiple local councils.
