Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has cautioned politicians and stakeholders against
turning security challenges in the state into political issues.
Speaking at the Kebbi Elders Consultative Forum Annual
Conference and Economic Development Summit on Wednesday in Birnin Kebbi, Idris
said insecurity should be seen as a collective challenge requiring unity rather
than partisan attacks.
He noted that no state in Nigeria is completely free from
security problems and warned that politicizing such matters undermines efforts
to restore peace and stability.
“The security of the people should not be politicized. The
issue is not about me; it is about the state. Those doing so are enemies of the
state,” the governor said.
Idris urged the Elders Forum to caution individuals using
insecurity for political gain, saying their actions were detrimental to Kebbi’s
image and development.
He added that his administration was supporting security agencies with logistics, vehicles, and funding to strengthen operations against banditry and other threats, particularly in the southern part of the state.
