Monday, October 27, 2025 - The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a Chinese national in connection with the recent improvised explosive device (IED) explosion that occurred inside a CCTV camera dealer’s shop on Kodesho Street, Ikeja. According
to security analyst Zagazola Makama, detectives from the State Criminal
Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, arrested the suspect, identified as Joe
Gu, at about 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at his residence located
at No. A11, Bila Vista, Banana Island, Ikoyi.
“The
arrest followed ongoing discreet investigations into the explosion incident,
during which the complainant strongly suspected the Chinese national as the
possible mastermind of the act,” the sources said.
Preliminary
investigation revealed that the suspect had a previous business relationship
with the complainant, which turned sour in 2013 after a dispute.
“It was
further gathered that during the fallout, the suspect allegedly threatened to
disrupt the complainant’s business operations,” the sources added.
The
sources said the suspect was currently in police custody as investigation
continued to determine his level of involvement and possible motive.
The police
assured the public that further developments on the case would be communicated
in due course, and reiterated the command’s commitment to uncovering the
circumstances surrounding the explosion.
