Chelsea’s COLE PALMER out for another six weeks with injury

Friday, October 17, 2025 - Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that midfielder Cole Palmer will be sidelined for another six weeks due to injury.

The England international, 23, has not featured for Chelsea since their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United on September 20, when he was substituted midway through the first half.

Maresca had initially hoped Palmer would return after the international break but admitted on Friday that his earlier assessment was overly optimistic.

“I was wrong. Unfortunately, he needs to be out probably six more weeks. So, yes, this is the update,” Maresca said.

However, the Chelsea boss clarified that Palmer would not require surgery. “We try just to protect Cole as much as we can and the most important thing is that when he comes back he’s fully recovered,” he added.

Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest on Saturday, October 18, Maresca acknowledged that replacing Palmer would be a major challenge.

“For sure, we need to find a different solution, we need to find different skills, because we don’t have another player like Cole,” he said. “Because Cole is unique.”

Palmer, one of Chelsea’s standout performers since joining from Manchester City, has been a key creative force for the team this season.
