Saturday, September 6, 2025 - Former Nigerian Ambassador to Japan, Professor Mohammed Gana Yisa, has vowed that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will not be allowed to rig the 2027 general elections.
Speaking in an interview with Vanguard on Friday, the former
Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly accused the APC of already
plotting to manipulate the process.
“Of course, APC is already planning to rig. But we are more
vigilant this time. We are developing antidotes to rigging. We will not allow
APC to rig elections in 2027,” Yisa declared.
He explained that opposition parties are working on new
strategies to protect the ballot and ensure that the people’s votes
count.
According to him, these measures are designed to make it
harder for anyone to alter results or suppress voters.
Yisa stressed that Nigerians must be alert ahead of the
polls, warning that lessons from past elections show how ruling parties often
exploit state power.
“This will not be tolerated in 2027,” he said.
The former envoy also noted that vigilance is key, insisting
that every stage of the electoral process, from voter registration to result
collation will be closely monitored.
He added that citizens are becoming more politically
aware, which will make rigging more difficult.
“The credibility of the 2027 elections will define Nigeria’s
democracy,” Yisa said, arguing that free and fair polls are the only way to
guarantee peace and stability in the country.
He urged Nigerians to remain united and resist any attempt
to undermine their will, expressing confidence that with proper vigilance, the
elections will reflect the true choice of the people.
