Saturday, September 13, 2025 -Two suspected robbers on Friday escaped from being lynched at Chicken Junction, Wise 2, Abuja.
Operating in an unmarked taxi, a source explained that the
suspected robbers attempted to dispossess a female passenger of her belongings.
One of the suspects, according to the source, tried to
snatch her phone and demanded her bank account’s PIN under threat, shortly
after the victim boarded a vehicle but she luckily raised the alarm, thereby
attracting passersby that forced the taxi to a stop and dragged the suspects
out.
The source further explained that immediately she raised the alarm, some passersby flagged down the vehicle, adding that as the suspects tried to escape, the mob apprehended them and started beating them with sticks, while others pelted them with stones.
According to him, “police operatives later arrived in a Hilux van, rescued the suspects from the mob and drove them away.”
SP Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the Federal Capital
Territory (FCT) Police Command, confirmed the incident, saying that police
responded swiftly to a distress call in the early hours of Friday.
She said that two persons were found lying on the ground
around Chicken Junction, Wuse 2, stressing that the operatives promptly rescued
them alive and rushed them to the National Hospital for medical treatment.
The FCT Commissioner of Police Ajao S. Adewale, according to
the spokesperson, had directed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Wuse
Division to conduct an extensive investigation.
