Saturday, September 20, 2025 - A
member representing Agege Federal Constituency, Wale Ahmed has declared that
evidence shows that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is rightly leading
Nigeria towards the desired destination.
Ahmed made this declaration at the Agege Federal
Constituency stakeholders’ briefing held at the Agege Local Government
Secretariat Hall, on Friday.
He stated that the results of the “financial reengineering”
of the nation’s economy launched with the “Subsidy Gone” proclamation on May
29, 2023, would be appreciated by many Nigerians in the long run.
Speaking, the House of Representatives member said the
strides of the current administration include growth in the foreign reserves to
over $40bn, reduction in the inflation rate, and increased Gross Domestic
Product.
He also spoke of N90bn disbursed as student loans, an
increase in minimum wage and corps’ allowance.
Ahmed said, “Between May 29, 2023 and now, you see a man
well-prepared for that job; a courageous man.
“It takes courage to remove fuel subsidy – an action that
past leaders failed to do while some presidential candidates promised to do so
if they won.
“The president is taking actions that will be beneficial in
the long run. He is working in the right direction and, if he continues, he
will get to the right destination.
“Foreign reserves have grown above $40bn. In two years,
Tinubu has enhanced foreign direct investment more than we got in 10 years.
Inflation has reduced, price of food items is coming down. This is down to
financial engineering.”
Ahmed also mentioned infrastructural development projects
including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Sokoto-Badagry superhighway, and
rehabilitation of Abuja-Kano dual carriageway.
He said, “The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is progressing,
and so is the Sokoto-Badagry expressway.
“I remember that in 1985, as a student, I read that the
Sokoto-Badagry road was to be constructed. It had been on paper for 40 years
until this administration took up the project.
“It will open up villages and people across different states
will start benefiting.”
Ahmed also justified the several foreign trips of Tinubu as
earning Nigeria more respect in the global economy as well as attracting more
foreign direct investment.
He criticised critics of Tinubu’s foreign trips and his
administration, urging the opposition to abandon any move to contest against
the presidency in the 2027 election.
According to Ahmed, Tinubu’s second term is assured.
He stated, “Tinubu’s foreign trips are yielding Nigeria
respect abroad. All his opponents should rest and allow Tinubu to have a second
term.
“Late President Muhammadu, from the North, served two terms,
so Tinubu should also have his second term.
“By God’s grace, his second term is assured. I will mobilise
my constituents to ensure Tinubu is returned for another year.”
Ahmed, at the event, also affirmed his commitment to
continue to deliver dividends of democracy to his constituents in the areas of
youth, women and farmers’ empowerment, streetlight and borehole installation,
and donation of food palliatives.
He also spoke of embarking on medical outreaches,
construction of blocks of classrooms in some schools, vocational and skill
acquisition programmes and the awarding of scholarships to students of the
constituency.
The event saw glowing tributes for Ahmed from local
government chairmen Abdulganiyu Obasa (Agege) and Abiodun Idowu (Orile Agege),
leaders of the All Progressives Congress in the Agege Federal Constituency,
market leaders, community leaders, traditional rulers; various ethnic groups
among others.
