Tuesday, September 23, 2025 - The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC has in Sokoto State, Alhaji Isa Sadiq Achida has made an allegation against former Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
According to him, Tambuwal
left government with abandoned projects and looted assets.
Speaking to journalists on
Monday, Achida alleged that Tambuwal deliberately refused to formally hand over
to Governor Ahmed Aliyu in 2023 to avoid being held accountable for the
condition of the state.
He claimed the refusal was
intended to frustrate the present administration.
Achida, however, commended
Governor Aliyu for what he described as prudent financial management and
visible development projects.
“Since his assumption of office, salaries are paid on or
before the 21st of every month, the new minimum wage has been implemented, and
major projects are ongoing—all without borrowing,” Achida said.
He added that Governor Aliyu was committed to the welfare of
the people rather than “looting public resources.”
On Tambuwal’s political future, the APC chairman argued that
the former governor lacked an independent political base and relied heavily on
political godfathers, particularly Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, to secure
power.
According to him, Tambuwal is “politically retired” and
unlikely to contest future governorship or senatorial elections.
When contacted, a former member of Tambuwal’s cabinet, who
asked not to be named, said a formal response would be issued at the
appropriate time.
