Tuesday, September 9, 2025 - The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested two men for allegedly def!ling minors aged 5 and 10, in Birnin Kebbi and Zuru Local Government Area of the state.
The spokesperson of the command, Nafiu Abubakar, who
disclosed this in a statement on Monday, September 8, 2025 said a 10-year-old
girl, Vina Shehu, was allegedly lured into a room by one Amos Jondo Maliki, who
had unlawful s3xual intercourse with her.
In a separate incident, a 5-year-old girl, Nana A’isha Aminu
Wala of Goribbu area, Birnin Kebbi, went to buy sweets when a 48-year-old man,
Mansuru Sani, allegedly lured her into his shop and assaulted her.
Following investigations by detectives of the State Criminal
Investigation Department (SCID), both suspects have been arraigned in court.
"In it's sustained efforts to ensuring zero tolerance
for child abuse, exploitation and all forms of gender-based violence in the
state, the Kebbi State Command has succeeded in arresting two suspects for
defilement accordingly,” the statement read.
"On the 27th August, 2025, one Vina Shehu f, aged 10yrs
of Bedi, Zuru LGA of Kebbi State, was sent on errand by her mother. While on
her way, one Amos Jondo Maliki m of the same address lured her into his room
and had s3xual intercourse with her.
"Additionally, on the 6th September, 2025 at about
1730hrs, one Nana A'isha Aminu Wala f aged 5yrs of Goribbu area Birnin Kebbi,
went to the shop of Mansuru Sani m aged 48yrs of the same address, to buy
sweet. In the process, the said Mansuru Sani waylaid her into his shop and
inserted his finger into her private parts.
"Upon completion of a discreet investigation by a team
of detectives at the state Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Birnin
Kebbi, both the two suspects have been arraigned in court.
"The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP
Bello M Sani had appreciated the giant stride of the Honorable Attorney General
and Commissioner of Justice, Kebbi State, Dr. Barr. Junaidu Bello Marshall, for
his swift response and for ensuring diligent prosecution of gender-based
violence cases in the state.
"CP Bello M Sani also condemned the incidents in strong
terms and reassured the residents of the Command's unwavering determination to
protect the most vulnerable members of society while promising that justice
will be pursued in due course.
"He reiterated the Command's commitment to a zero-
tolerance stance against child exploitation, abuse and all forms of
gender-based violence.
“The CP urged the parents to monitor the movement of their
children and not hesitate to report the gender-based violence cases to the
nearest police station for prompt action."
