Friday, September 19, 2025 - The Ogun State Government has shut down five Chinese companies and arrested some of their officials for allegedly assaulting law enforcement officers and state officials carrying out their duties.
The affected companies, located in the Ogere axis of the
Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, are DL Plastics Limited, Dyschenghan Plastics, SH
Agricultural Limited, Beautiful Fibre Limited and Jincaicai Nigeria Limited.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment and Managing
Director of the Ogun State Waste Management Authority (OGWAMA), Abayomi Hunye,
who gave the directive, said the companies mobilised their workers to attack
state officials.
He explained that the officials had visited the premises to
enforce a seal order after several invitations and official letters over
alleged environmental infractions, including improper waste disposal, burning
of waste and refusal to patronise government-recognised waste collectors.
“We have been on this case for the past six months. We sent
letters and invited them, but they refused to honour our invitations. Notices
of intention to seal were pasted three months ago, yet they ignored them. When
we sealed their gates last week, they broke government chains,” Hunye said.
He added that when officials returned with law enforcement
officers, they were attacked and injured, stressing that the government would
prosecute those involved and not tolerate “barbaric acts” under the guise of
investment.
