Friday, September 5, 2025 - A Nigerian woman, Ebelechukwu Eliana Onwudiwe, said her family members showed their true colours after she resigned from her job.
Onwudiwe disclosed this in a Facebook post on Thursday,
September 4, 2025, while reacting to a story shared by an anonymous individual
who narrated how his family stopped calling and visiting him after he lied
about losing his job.
According to her, she worked as a manager in a Lagos firm
prior to her resignation nine months ago.
Onwudiwe said since then her mother and siblings started treating her differently and stopped calling or checking up on her.
From someone her family once held in high esteem, Onwudiwe
said she has become an object of mockery among them.
She vowed never to return home, saying she would rather d!e
on the street and be buried in the bush.
“Happened to
me too. It been 9 months since I resigned my managerial position in Lagos and
moved home to start afresh and the once important Ebelechukwu is no longer
relevant. No calls, no check ins. From being called mama London to not even
addressed by my name properly. Today I have become an item of mockery and
totally neglect,” she wrote.
“The little
time my mum helped me financially, she used it to mock me and gossiped me to my
younger siblings. Blood is never thicker. I will choose a total stranger over
any family. And I will rather di…e on the street and buried in the bush than go
home to family. I can’t relate to people who talk about being loved at home. So
I intentionally create my own love outside home.”
