Tuesday, September 30, 2025 - The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a security guard, identified as Amos Kini, for allegedly abducting a two-year-old child in the Elemoro area of the state.
The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday,
September 29, 2025.
According to the report, the incident occurred on September
21 at about 11:50 p.m., when the mother of the child lodged a complaint at
Elemoro Division that her security guard had fled with her son and her mobile
phone. The suspect later contacted the child’s father using the stolen phone,
demanding a ransom of N5 million for the boy’s release.
In response, officers from Elemoro Division immediately
swung into action, visiting and documenting the scene while also interrogating
one Aruna Dauda, who had stood as guarantor for the suspect during his
employment.
As pressure mounted through intelligence gathering and
surveillance, Kini was compelled to release the child. However, police
operatives continued their manhunt to ensure his arrest.
On September 23, at around 2:00 p.m., operatives of the
Tactical Squad (Hyena) acting on credible intelligence tracked down and
arrested Kini at his hideout in Elemoro. The suspect has since confessed to the
crime and remains in custody. He will be charged to court once investigations
are completed.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, condemned
the abduction, describing it as a grievous act against an innocent child. He
reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling violent and capital crimes
across Lagos State.
