Thursday, September 4, 2025 - The Anambra State Police Command Operatives attached to the Okpoko Division on Tuesday, September 4, rescued a suspect from an attempted jungle justice after he was alleged to have m#rdered a 25-year-old male and concealed the victim’s dismembered body inside a refrigerator at Okpoko.
The suspect identified as Leberechi and about 30 years of
age was already in an unconscious state before he was arrested. He was
immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention and is currently under
armed guard to prevent escape.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, SP Tochukwu Ikenga,
spokesperson of the command said the operatives visited the scene of the m#rder
and discovered the decomposed body parts of the victim hidden inside a
refrigerator.
Ikenga said the remains were subsequently evacuated to a
mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
He added that the state Commissioner of Police, Anambra
State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has directed immediate transfer of the Case
to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka for a thorough
investigation and to ensure that justice is served in accordance with the law.
