Friday, August 15, 2025 - A 100 level student of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) Nasarawa State, Ijeoma Blessings Nweke, has d!ed after being knocked down by a tricycle rider near the institution’s campus.
The
accident occurred at about 11: 30 a.m. on August 13, 2025.
According
to security analyst, Zagazola Makama, the rider, identified as Fidelis Zakka of
Agyarangu Tasha in Obi Local Government Area, was conveying female passengers
from Kayarda, Obi LGA, to the university’s gate when he hit the victim.
Police
said Nweke was attempting to cross the road with friends near the campus speed
bumps when the incident occurred.
She was
taken to the Federal University Lafia Clinic and later referred to the National
Hospital, Abuja, where she d!ed while receiving treatment.
The
tricycle rider has been arrested, and the vehicle impounded at ‘A’ Division,
Lafia, while investigation is ongoing.
