Thursday, August 14, 2025 - Osun Police Command has arrested eight suspected ritual k!llers over the alleged mutilation of a 16-year-old boy's in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, made this
known in a statement on Monday in Osogbo.
Ojelabi said three of the suspects, who reside in Apomu, had
gone to cultivate a farmland in the Arademi Area of Ikire on July 26 at about 4
pm.
According to him, after cutting the grass, two of the
suspects allegedly lured their victim to a remote bush, cut his abdomen open in
an attempt to remove vital organs, and then removed his scrotum. They fled
after the victim raised an alarm.
"The police, when contacted, immediately moved to the
scene, took the victim to a hospital for medical attention, and later referred
him to the University College Hospital,” he said.
He said a subsequent investigation led to the arrest of eight
suspects in connection with the incident.
According to Ojelabi, some other arrests were made in July,
including two suspected cult members who allegedly operate at Osun State
Polytechnic, Iree, and a suspect who robbed someone of an iPhone 11 at Oke
Baale, Osogbo.
He said another suspect was found with a cut-to-size gun
after his motorcycle was stopped at Sedona, Ede, and a final suspect was
apprehended for stealing a motorcycle at a mosque.
Ojelabi further stated that all suspects will be charged.
