Friday, August 1, 2025 - The Lagos State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled its members who recently defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The Elders Caucus and Chairmen of PDP in the 20 local
government areas of the state made this known in a statement issued by their
spokesperson, Mr. Segun Edwards, today July 31.
PDP said that the decision was arrived at at the
stakeholders’ meeting called to “discuss the outcome of the party’s National
Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Abuja last week.” The party leaders
declared that all party members who openly aligned with the coalition party
were expelled from the PDP forthwith.
According to Edward, the party elders and the local
government chairmen, at the parley, frowned at the decision of some members who
openly aligned themselves with ADC, stating that they had, doing so,
“desecrated the principles of the party by their open declaration for ADC,
while still being members of the PDP.”
“Rising from
the meeting, the party elders and the local government chairmen frowned at the
decision of some members who openly aligned themselves with ADC, stating that
they have desecrated the principles of the party by their open declaration for
ADC, while still being members of the PDP.
The enlarged
Stakeholders Assembly, therefore, moved the motion for the expulsion of all the
members, who openly aligned themselves with the coalition, and all the elders
voted for their expulsion” the statement said
