Wednesday, August 13, 2025 - The Nigeria Police Force says it has received an official petition from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) over an alleged incident involving singer Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (popularly known as KWAM 1) at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on August 5. The singer was caught on tape standing in front of a plane, preventing it from taxing after the airline officials refused him to fly with a flask they suspected contained alcohol.
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority NCAA had petitioned the
Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police to
launch a thorough investigation into the incident.
In a statement released this evening August 12, the
spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has directed the
Commissioner of Police, Airport Command, to immediately commence a thorough
investigation into the matter, to unravel the circumstances which led to the
ugly incident and ensure justice is served accordingly.
Adejobi added that the Force assures the public of its
commitment to upholding safety and security within Nigeria’s aviation sector,
while assuring stakeholders in the sector of improved collaboration towards
aviation security and strict compliance with aviation laws.
