Tuesday, August 12, 2025 - At least six persons, including five female passengers and a male bus conductor, have been abducted by armed men along the Takum–Katsina Ala Road in Taraba state.
It was gathered that the incident occurred on Sunday morning
at Kampo Village when gunmen, numbering about six and armed with firearms,
intercepted a Toyota Hummer bus with registration number SDA 61 XB, belonging
to Dan Pullo Transport Company.
Sources said that the bus, which was travelling from Rivers
State to Gembu, was forced off the road and driven into the bush by the
assailants.
The driver, Aliyu Umar, reported that the gunmen robbed all
passengers of their phones, ATM cards, and other valuables, including
unspecified amounts of cash. “The attackers demanded ATM card PINs.
"Those who refused to give correct PINs, including the
five female passengers and the conductor, were taken away to an unknown
location, while others were released along with the vehicle,” the sources
said.
The sources said four of the abducted women are from Gembu,
while one is from Jalingo.
Following the report, police patrol teams, local hunters, and
operatives from the Area Command combed the surrounding bush without
success.
Sources said efforts have been intensified to ensure the
rescue of the victims and the arrest of the perpetrators.
