Wednesday, August 20, 2025 - Ademola Lookman has returned to Bergamo and resumed training
with his Atalanta teammates after several days of absence.
The Nigerian winger had skipped training without permission
in an attempt to force a move to Inter Milan. He also released a statement
accusing Atalanta of breaking promises and treating him unfairly as both “a
human being and a professional footballer.”
Inter have since pulled out of the race to sign Lookman this
summer after failing to reach an agreement with Atalanta.
Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi later revealed that while an
understanding existed allowing Lookman to leave under certain conditions, it
was limited to offers from “big clubs” outside Serie A—effectively ruling out
Inter and complicating negotiations.
According to Sky Sport, Lookman was accompanied to training
on Tuesday by his father and a friend. The 27-year-old now awaits potential
disciplinary action from the Bergamo club.
Atalanta will kick off their Serie A campaign on Sunday evening at home against newly-promoted Pisa.
