Friday, August 15, 2025 - Hollywood actor Jason Momoa has revealed how he almost lost his life during a terrifying paddleboarding accident in Hawaii.
Speaking on a podcast, the 46-year-old Aquaman star
said the incident happened back in 2007 while he was paddling with friends near
the famous “Jaws” surf break — a spot known for massive, dangerous waves.
According to Daily Mail, the group had planned a 13-mile
paddle, but about seven miles in, Momoa’s leash snapped, leaving him stranded
almost a mile offshore in strong winds.
At first, he stayed calm. But when 10-foot waves started
crashing over him and the shore remained far away, exhaustion and panic kicked
in.
“I was stuck in this crazy spot on the outer reef. They
couldn’t see me,” he said. “I was waving my paddle, but the waves were too
big.”
The actor said thoughts of his three-month-old daughter made
him even more desperate, and at one point, his arms and legs gave out. “I
literally gave up,” he admitted.
Just then, his toe hit the reef and a friend spotted him in
time to help. They still had seven miles left to paddle in rough conditions
before finally making it to shore.
By the end, Momoa’s feet were bleeding from the reef, but he
was grateful to be alive.
“Head down, just paddling with my ancestors,” he said.
