Monday, July 7, 2025 - FCT Minister, Nyesom WIke has again taken a swipe at the members of the Coalition group pitching to take power from President Tinubu come 2027.
While speaking at a Thanksgiving service he held to
celebrate the commissioning of projects in the FCT, Wike reacted to Peter Obi's
plans to contest for President. He said Obi's time has to become president has
“passed.”
He also took a swipe at the coalition's secretary,Rauf
Aregbesola who was the Minister of Interior during the Buhari
administration.
According to Wike, someone like Aregbesola who “failed” to
deliver passports to Nigerians while in office cannot be claiming to want to
rescue Nigerians when he couldn't do so when he was in office.
‘’There are
the same people that want to rescue Nigerians. You were Minister of Interior,
to go and get passport, you will spend weeks and months and years before you
get international passport. But look at a young boy , see what he has done,
Within hours, you will get your international passport.
And then you
(coalition members) will come and tell us Nigerians are angry. Nigerians are
angry with you for not making it possible for us to have an international
airport as we are having international passports as quickly as possible.
Nigerians are angry with you.
How can
Nigerians not be angry with you?
In 1999, you
are in this party. In 2006, you are in another party, In 2014 you moved to
another party. In 2019, you came back to another party. Now in 2025, you are
moving to another party. To rescue who? You want to rescue your stomach not
Nigerians''
Speaking directly to Peter Obi, Wike said;
‘’Some of
you, you have sympathy for someone you don't know. You say Peter Obi will be
President. President where? Some of you, you don't know somebody but out of
emotion…..For eight years he was governor, he never conducted Local government
election., That time Nigerianas were nt angry that you refused to conduct local
government election. Eight good years. That one you decided it to be democracy.
Only you governor of all the local government and none of you asked questions
ooo…Now you can come out and begin to talk.
‘Democracy
is not working’ but it worked under your own staying alone to be chairman of
local government, to be governor..only one man.
The time has passed…he wouldn't have the opportunity again.''
