Wednesday, July 9, 2025 - The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, in the 2023 general elections, Omoyele Sowore, has again attacked members of the opposition coalition.
Since the coalition adopted the African Democratic Congress,
ADC, as its platform, the new political movement has been receiving knocks from
Sowore.
Sowore again knocked the coalition on Wednesday, when he
appeared as a guest on ‘The Morning Brief’, a programme on Channels Television.
He described the coalition as populated by individuals whose
track records made it impossible for him to align with them politically.
“For me, the issue of a coalition is personal. To some
extent, it’s a general issue about governance and politics. But there are just
too many people in the coalition you’re mentioning that I can’t sit across the
table from without being tempted to act out of my character,” he said.
The right activist also alleged that many figures in the
coalition have betrayed Nigerians, calling them people who have done what is
regarded as evil and who lacked conscience, character, and pedigree.
“There’s no amount of conditions you can give to them that
will wash their ways or change how they behave. These are typically people
whose way of life is being evil, doing bad, being corrupt, short-changing the
public, and being selfish,” he added.
The publisher of Sahara Reporters emphasized that his
position was not based on mere opinions but on documented evidence of the
conduct and lifestyle of those involved.
He argued that while there were individuals in Nigeria’s
political landscape who genuinely wanted to save the country, others in both
the ruling party and the opposition were simply preparing to exploit Nigerians
further.
The opposition coalition adopted the African Democratic
Congress, ADC, as its political party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The coalition is made up of a former vice president, Atiku
Abubakar; the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi; a
former Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola; a former Kaduna governor, Nasir
El-Rufai; and a former senate president, David Mark, among others.
